7 July 2021 - UNRISD: Evidence-Based Decision-Making #HLPF2021

On Wednesday, 7 July 2021, the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD) is hosting a High-level Political Forum (#HLPF 2021) from 14:00-15:45pm EST / 20:00-21:45 CEST. The event titled: “Evidence-Based Decision-Making for Sustainable and Just COVID Recovery & Transformative SDG Implementation” will showcase sources of evidence in new tools, resources, and knowledge platforms that can be used to support effective decision making for systems-level transformation. Speakers from a wide array of sectors will highlight innovative and impact-driven solutions, including methods to measure national wealth, assess business and economic alignment with the SDGs, and use satellite technology to track SDG progress and bolster disaster resiliency.

The High-level Political Forum, United Nations central platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, provides for the full and effective participation of all States Members of the United Nations and States members of specialized agencies.

Part I: Tools & Resources for Evidence-Based Decision-Making (75 min.)

  • From fragilities to resilience: Tools for sustainable, just and transformed economies – WBA, UNRISD, GRI, UNCTAD, FEMNET
  • Leveraging geospatial information technology and satellite data for sustainable, climate-resilient and inclusive development – UNITAR-UNOSAT & UK Space Agency

Part II: Behavioral Solutions for Evidence-Based Decision-Making (25 min.)
