14 – 17 December 2020: NORRAG Advisor is Distinguished Speaker at SDPI and Malala Fund panel
Wajeeha Bajwa, NORRAG Advisor will be a Distinguished Speaker at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI)’s Twenty-third Sustainable Development Conference (SDC) from 14 – 17 December 2020 in Islamabad, Pakistan. SDPI’s Twenty-third Sustainable Development Conference, “Sustainable Development in the Times of COVID-19” focuses on the impact of COVID-19, and a changing world order since the outbreak of the pandemic. The Conference will deliberate on how macroeconomic developments, trading across borders and social safety nets will evolve as governments around the world respond to this challenge and corresponding opportunities such as digitization of the economy, telehealth and distance learning.
At the event, Wajeeha Bajwa will be exploring the efficacy of digital education and tele-education on girls’ schooling in Pakistan During the Covid-19 Pandemic during the panel, “Education Methods in COVID-19 Response: Assessing Gendered Impact” which will explore the intersectional effects and related strengths, limitations and sustainability of two key educational technologies – digital education and tele-education – on girls’ educational access and learning experiences in the country. Recommendations are issued to overcome key limitations. Alternatives to these two approaches that rely on pre-existing resources and capacities are also discussed as a means to bolster public school system capacities to manage any subsequent emergencies.
