NORRAG at the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Annual Conference, Re-Mapping Global Education: South-North Dialogue
NORRAG participated in the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Annual Conference on 25-29 March 2018 in Mexico City.
This year’s conference was titled Re-Mapping Global Education: South-North Dialogue, and aimed to “focus the conversation on theories and methodologies produced in the global South, with a view toward exploring new voices around the globe. This perspective impels us to forge commitments with greater dedication than ever across all kinds of borders and to re-envision possibilities for cooperation and mutual support in advancing education research and practice.”
As in previous years, NORRAG hosted a reception for members and interested parties on Tuesday 27 March from 8.30-10pm, Doña Sol room (4th floor) for an informal get-together and networking opportunity.
The conference and reception was also the opportunity to present NORRAG’s new book series on international education and development published by Edward Elgar, London. The first publication is titled The state, business and education: public-private partnerships revisited, edited by Prof. Gita Steiner-Khamsi, Director, and Alexandra Draxler, Senior Advisor at NORRAG. This volume contributes to a critical debate about the blurring of boundaries between the public and private sectors in respect to educational aims, policy, provision and delivery with research from Argentina, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Syrian refugee camps and the United States.
NORRAG was represented at CIES by Professor Gita Steiner-Khamsi, Director, Dr. Joost Monks, Executive Director, Arushi Terway, Senior Lead Research Associate and Patrick Montjourides, Senior Research Associate.
