Launch of GI-ESCR Report on Transparency of Private Commercial Education Providers: A case study of Bridge International Academies

The Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (GI-ESCR) has launched a new report on entitled Transparency of Private Commercial Education Providers: A case study of Bridge International Academies. This case study draws attention to the importance of transparent education governance, for learners and their families and for education authorities. It argues that all education providers – including private education providers that make a profit – must be required to report consistently and transparently on their procedures, their decisions, and their performance.

About GI-ESCR

The Global Initiative for Economic, Social and Cultural Rights works to improve and promote transformative change to end endemic problems of social and economic injustice through a human rights lens. Its work focuses on strengthening public services for the enjoyment of economic, social and cultural rights, and promotes transparency and accountability in the delivery of education. It pays particular attention to commercial education providers, whose role in education systems has grown rapidly.

Like NORRAG, GI-ESCR supports the Abidjan Principles on the Right to Education.
