NORRAG at OECD/netFWD and UNESCO panel: Paving the way to quality education for all, What role for philanthropy?
NORRAG was honored to be invited to speak at the UNESCO Headquarters on 22 October 2019 in front of a panel co-convened by the OECD’s Global Network of Foundations Working for Development (netFWD) in collaboration with the UNESCO’s Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report: Paving the way to quality education for all: What role for philanthropy? Panelists discussed the role of philanthropy and other non-state actors in strengthening education systems in developing countries to achieve SDG 4.
Dr. Lara Patil, Advisor, NORRAG, specifically addressed emerging philanthropic approaches, how they contrast with more ‘traditional’ philanthropy, and the ways in which these new approaches change the relationship between foundations and other development actors, such as governments and multilateral organizations.
The session included the release of a new policy note by OECD netFWD and a frank discussion among panelists:
